Re-establishment of Undergraduate DU Chapter at ISU
Both Colonnades Corporation and 117 Ash, LLC want to assure all Iowa State DU alums that our hopes are to see that a strong and respected undergraduate chapter eventually can be re-established at Iowa State University. Furthermore, we certainly hope that such a DU Chapter will have the numbers and quality that will allow it to call 117 Ash Avenue “home”.
However, 117 Ash, LLC’s main mission will continue to be to 1) preserve the history and tradition of the Iowa State Chapter of Delta Upsilon by restoring and protecting its 1934 Chapter House, and 2) provide a financial return to its Members (owners) in the form of tax credits, potential profits, and other tax considerations.
A separate group of our Colonnades Board has been charged with the re-organization efforts for an undergraduate DU Chapter at Iowa State. Fortunately, the Office of Greek Affairs at Iowa State has allowed the DU Chapter to be classified as “under reorganization”. This status makes it much easier for the DU’s to start recruiting again in the next few years. Several us will be meeting with DU International in the next few weeks to further discuss this “next step” and how it might relate to the renovation project being undertaken by 117 Ash, LLC.
100 Years of Delta Upsilon at ISU: Challenge 2013
During the Fall of 2013, the Iowa State Chapter of Delta Upsilon will celebrate the 100th anniversary of receiving its Charter from the International Fraternity. We are talking just three short years away!
Wouldn’t it be great to come back to an Iowa State University Homecoming in the Fall of 2013 and enjoy a celebration honoring a century of ISU DU’s in a completely rejuvenated DU Chapter House at 117 Ash Avenue? And, wouldn’t it be even better if 117 Ash Avenue was filled to capacity (40 to 45) with bright, motivated DU undergraduates that were respectful of both their DU heritage and of their DU home at 117 Ash Avenue? It will be a challenge for sure, but it can be done. |
